In the Miao language, Noog means bird — a creature of freedom, instinct, and the wild. Ava carries two meanings at once — liveliness in Latin, and the name of a southwestern Chinese minority tribe who still live close to the earth, in the old and primal way.
That idea shapes everything we make.
What We Make
At the heart of Noogava is a tool unlike most you've held — one crafted entirely from pressed herbs, where the tool itself becomes the remedy. The benefits reveal themselves in usage:

Our Standards
Fine herbs deserve unhurried craft. Every Noogava tool is made by hand in our production studio in Gui province, the ancestral home of the Miao people — who live and heal here still.
How a Tool Comes to Life
- Hand-picking — Noogava aromatherapy tools begin as individual plants — roots, bark, flowers, and resins gathered from the valleys of southwestern China. Each herb is selected by hand, then cleansed with water.
- Grinding & sterilizing — The cleaned herbs are ground into a fine powder and sterilized with ultraviolet light rather than heat, preserving their full potency.
- Molding by hand — The powder is worked into a natural dough and pressed into shape by our artisans.

Slow, cool drying — Each piece is left to cure in open air — slowly, at room temperature for 14 days or more — until it holds its form completely. The result is a tool that carries the full aromatic and therapeutic character of its botanicals, released gradually through the warmth of touch. We keep this stage free of heat, so the herbs retain the benefits we've worked to protect.

Our formulas are composed alongside local Miao medicine specialists who understand the essence of each herb — how they balance one another, and the precise proportions that make a blend both beneficial and safe for direct contact with the skin. That knowledge is a craft in itself, and it lives in every tool we make.
My Story
I've benefitted with herb's remedy for as long as I can remember.
My mother is a nationally and globally certified herbal healing specialist, and she raised me inside the world of TCM. When I caught a small cold as a child, she would brew a warm herbal remedy to ease my symptoms. From her, I learned to see plants as something living and medicinal — a language of healing passed quietly from hand to hand.
After spending over ten years in the tech industry, I've formed a persistent neck ache just like most that work in front of a screen for long hours. I often find relief in TCM neck patches and in frequent visits to Tuina massage, but I hadn't quite found my way.
Then, on a scenic trip to Gui province, I discovered Miao Medicine by chance — how local people worship the botanics as if they're little genies that dwell in the mountains to cure people of all kinds of illness. I was captivated. Drawn back by that first encounter, I returned to the region to learn about the Miao people's way of life and their medicinal practices, spending time among the herbs. Along with Miao Medicine expert, we developed these massage tools that harness the healing power of TCM herbs into the tool itself, using He Xiang technique — a 1,400-year-old Chinese practice of pressing dried herbs into solid form.
From that journey, Noogava was born.
The name carries it all — Noog, the bird, and Ava, the living spirit. Like a bird carrying pollen across the valleys, we exist to spread the life of these plants outward: from the mountains of southwestern China, into your hands, and into a ritual of restoration you can return to each day.
